We sent out the co-investment call for Narrative Muse last Sunday. Sunday? No rest of the wicked, some of the best Angelic work happens when others rest. $55k commitments from FKA so far. Add in $110k in hard and $20k in soft commitments that Brough has already and she is getting close to her $250k target. NZVIF might just close that gap?
Conqa has conquered the imagination of the Flying Kiwis. 19 Angels said, let's do DD. Out of 21 votes that speaks of real interest!

Now champion Andy and his DD Team have their work cut out sifting through all the building blocks that make up this business in the construction industry.

Conqa has already spread into AUS. So if any of the fine Angels across the Tasman read this we would really appreciate your in-market expertise!

Just ping Andy.Harwood@fka.nz!

StreetchSense is FKA's first portfolio company, first partial 3x exit, now the first to go into voluntary administration. This will hopefully resolve some structural issues that are preventing new investors from coming in.

Here is the Herald article in case you've missed it.

Another Showcase but this one is different. Jackie (not pictured above) runs the incubation programme at the ecentre without charging founders and without taking equity. Callaghan Innovation is paying already. GREAT!

The icing on the cake (excuse the pun) would be a Massey/ecentre seed fund to support graduates in their subsequent external round. That would be truly founder and investor-friendly! Jackie?

☞ Register for the upcoming Showcase here!

Smart Seeds is a design-led innovation program empowering diverse groups of people to co-create integrated solutions to complex challenges. In 2019 the program is running in 13 cities in 5 global regions, including urban and regional cities in Australia, New Zealand and North America. See the culmination of 11 weeks of work from 6 teams next Wednesday in Auckland. ☞ More here.

Tim G is Jack, Jack of all trades. We know him as a hustler, early teleshopping expert and shareholder of Skippy the Bush Kangaroo to name but a few. Now we know another trade in his bow, he is also Edward Scissorhands.
Potentia is a sponsor much like Santa. Bringing great spirit and making sure the turkey is well stuffed. Abinesh, Nate, Julian and the rest of the crew, it's a real pleasure working with you and we really appreciate your cash sponsorship next to all your other active contributions.

Onwards and upwards for another year and beyond!

Daniel O'Donoghue presented Conqa at Tuesday's pitch night. Watch the video here. Championed by Andy The DD Vote is underway.
Brough Johnson presented Narrative Muse at Tuesday's pitch night. Watch the video here. Championed by Phil and lead by Suse Reynolds from AngelHQ Angels.

Investors will receive the DD Report and Co-investment Call shortly.

David is the Investor Rep for Kami №02 and he gave an update on progress at Tuesday's pitch night. We'd love to brag with the financial performance of our portfolio company but these numbers are not for public consumption. Suffice it to they are doing us proud.

However, we have a video from their Air New Zealand awards night.

We decide whether or not to proceed to DD by vote. We have currently 34 Voting Angels who have pre-committed $2,500 for each of the next 10 investments that we vote to do DD on and subsequently to invest in.

The Voting Angels are bound by majority vote for their first $2,500. Over and above that, they invest at their discretion as do all other FKAngels and co-investors subject to minimum investment levels.

It is our aim to give founders a swift YES or NO. However, for that, we rely on the Voting Angels to get on with the voting. Normally that works very well, however, for close decisions it can take virtually every Angel to vote which can be difficult. For that reason, we have introduced the following refinement.

If a majority of 18 YES/NO votes has not been achieved within 14 days of the commencement of voting then a smaller majority of 13 YES/NO votes or more will decide the final vote where at least 75% of the Voting Angels have cast their vote.

Every third Thursday of the month the ADI Teams in Auckland and Queenston are locked in a race to see who will get more bookings. Queenstown started Thursday morning in the lead with four bookings whilst Auckland was trailing with three. It was not the early afternoon that Auckland caught up. With that, the day ended 4:4.
Michelle Polglase unashamedly admits that the new KFA Friday newsletter was inspired by this publication, strong colours, animated GIFs all included. Some say ιɱιƚαƚισɳ ιʂ ƚԋҽ ʂιɳƈҽɾҽʂƚ ϝσɾɱ σϝ ϝʅαƚƚҽɾყ.

Tue 16 July, 1830 @ KPMG, 18 Viaduct Harbour Ave, AKL

Phil will bring Narrative Muse. Andy will bring Conqa. David will bring Kami №02 for an update. Apologies for the misprinted date last week.
Join Rudi today at 14:00 on Level 5, 55 Shortland Street, AKL. The peeps from Pacific Channel who delivered a great exit with Engender want to do more like this. Lachlan Nixon will share PC plans with FKA.
Some chase unicorns but many fail. Much smarter to bet on squirrels. See our LinkedIn post or the video.
But startups should be deer hunters! Read the full article.
Oh, dear! So many animalish metaphors. Let's not forget angels who are like cats even if our CCH would prefer them being more like obedient dogs, obedient like German shepherd dogs.

☞ Watch the video that inspired Rudi's job title!

Totally partial to partial exits! We have another partial exit from one of our portfolio companies. If you're invested you'll know, if you're not we cannot tell you more at the moment. ● The FileInvite round is nearly full, Garth and CEO James have made great progress. ● Phil will bring Narrative Muse to our 18 July Pitch Night. ● Conqa checked into ADI∙Clinic this week and newbie Andy will bring them to Pitch Night too. ● Also, oldtimer David R will bring Kami for an update. ● A dozen U35 aspirants met last night, kindly hosted by Imche Fourie in the deep catacombs of LevelTwo. Almost like FKA started with a Dirty Dozen 5 years ago.

Note: Kami's user count is bounded by NZ's headcount for people and sheep ‍‍‍

For co-founder and departing CEO Chris Heaslip the partial exit from Pushpay has been very worthwhile. Pushpay shows how dominating a niche in a big market can be very lucrative. Well done!
We ran three ads this week on LinkedIn for ADI in Auckland, Blenheim and Whangarei.

Whoever said accounts love blue and only blue? KPMG New Zealand sported a very colourful logo variation on LinkedIn last night.

Next week's video will have the above question. Guess what it means!
Notable funding rounds to put what we do into perspective.
