Chief Cat Herder: "I know more ways than one to skin a cat. And there are more ways than one to fly!"
  • Tue 17:30  NZSA Wet Talk, Josh Comrie, book now
  • Thu 4-6pm  ADI.Clinic Auckland, convener Rudi Bublitz
  • Wherewolf • Charlie and his DD team, remember we had to cull some of the original nine volunteers, have delivered a positive recommendation and FKA's investment vote is under way.

  • Hot Lime Labs • Garry keeps remote controlling things from London. The Vice-Chairman of Nelson Angel Inc. has advised the Chief Cat Herder of FKA that there is interest from NAI. Their Matthias Andermatt will work with Garry to bring DD to a  close.

  • Moxion • Syndication with NZ and OZ angel groups is very strong, the only cold shoulder from icy angels. You can feel the love below

Awesome job! Charlie James (Wanaka) has beavered away with Campbell Scott (Auckland), Garth Hinton (Auckland), Phil Southward (Munich) and Stephen Meikle (London) to complete the Wherewolf DD Report. Then Paul Davidson gave it the final once over. Not surprisingly, he raised the bar a little, giving the team a little more work to finish with a report that is much better for it.
FKA's CCH sent the above GIF + "Nina, Bill - absolute pleasure to syndicate with EA!"
EA's Nina responded "I was worried [...] as it was sitting at $40K earlier this week – didn’t want another of those horrid pics against our name in your weekly newsletter… LOL"
WE have a number of individuals who want to become official FKAssociates. Some have already earned their spurs at ADI.Clinic or with diligence. Christoph Schumacher, another German and it may have to be the last one for a while, is true to his name and digs cars. Iain Anderson is the most senior cofounder of StretchSense. Kerry Friend has been helping Martin run the ADI.Clinic in Whangarei. Campbell Scott helped with the Wherewolf DD. Ali Sedcole was instrumental in taking Allpress global, then had coffee with Paul Trotter and Rudi.
As you know they each have to talk with three FKAngels. So if you know any of the five above get in touch to make it a little easier for them.
Food, wine plus a healthy dose of Josh on how to get dosh.
$40 for NZSA and FKA members, angels or investees, others $60. Ping Josh or Rudi for the discount code. Then BOOK HERE!
Louise Webster and Andy Blackburn have opened the gates for entries to this year's NZ Innovation Award. Several of our portfolio companies have entered in the past and found the process useful. Judging is smart and shows an uncanny correlation with our investment tastes.
Please, encourage any startup or company that you think has merit to enter via www.tiny.cc/nz-inno-2017. If you click LIKE on the LinkedIn posts below or make a COMMENT that will extend the reach and promote them to your LinkedIn connections. 1) SS 2) FF 3) KA 4) JC
Deloitte partner Mark Talbot made this photo available. Standing next to the CCH is Tom Batterbury, just after taking a swig of beer. In 2014 Tom was a frequent visitor of our Angelic-Drop-In aka ADI.Clinic. He pitched Eyedentify to FKA in February 2015. The business with its crime-prevention software rebranded to Auror and won Deloitte Rising Star the following year, which is why Tom was speaking at this year's launch. With the bottle empty, Tom asked Rudi for an intro to Aisleworx for US retailers. Onwards and upwards, Tom
Since moving to Wanaka FKAngel Charlie has kicked off ADI.Clinic there. He says "This would not have been possible without the help from Jason Watkins, the development manager at The CUBE and The Cell coworking space."
First the MASS FIRINGS AT UBER FOLLOWING THE SEXUAL HARASSMENT SCANDAL and now SEXUAL HARRASMENT at the top of 500 Startups which has come to light following this SHOCKING REPORT about the sexist treatment that female startup founders can encounter.

Please, everyone, let's be vigilant, the line is a fine one. Ben Kepes puts it well in his recent newsletter.

"Before we open our mouths to say something, what if we think about how whatever we say is going to be received. Just because we don't intend to cause offence, doesn't mean it's taken that way."

So that Flying Kiwi Angels don't fall down from a slippery sky we have a strong and gender-balanced editorial team. Rudi: I have used best endeavours to self-censor my more provocative ideas. Should be fine to go? Jackie: Looks good to me. BUT I am reading on my teeny tiny phone screen while [...]. As such I accept no liability and make no warranties as to the accuracy of this review:) Katheren: Cannot see anything that will cause people’s eyelashes to curl!
ADI.Clinic was running this week in Whangarei and Auckland. Let's finish with this little GIF that epitomises the spirit of how angels are giving a helping hand to founders.
