"Food companies are more of a brand play,"  says the CCH in this article “A yoghurt is a yoghurt. Success depends on consumer taste and the outcome is fickle."

Notwithstanding, he is rooting for dates. More on that in this startup spotlight.

Photos from an earlier decade don't help with dates. All just a myth!

During the pandemic, education-technology firm Kami—which lets teachers share learning resources, conduct virtual classes, provide feedback, and more—offered its products for free to its 32 million teachers and students in 180 countries, despite having no other revenue source. That move has paid off as districts made decisions later on about how to spend their money; Deloitte named Kami New Zealand’s fastest-growing business last year following a nearly 1,200% revenue increase.

Ashley.Smout@fka.nz is our champion for Kara Technoligies. We have $105k commitments for this co-investment round. See the DD Report HERE and email Ashley if you want to participate.

Pictured above is Arash, Kara's CEO. See our Postie Boy Ashley HERE.

We also have funds rolling in for the rolling close of chnnl and Integration Fox. More from Cornelius.Boertjens@fka.nz andJosh.Comrie@fka.nz.

A Rolling Close is not limited by a predetermined value and allows a company to receive investments on an ongoing basis. After an initial investment closing, additional investors are allowed to invest in the same round with the same terms (generally within a 30 to 180 day window).

Dacreed is still undergoing close examination by the DD team under the leadership of Arron Patterson.

No startup pitches this week, nonetheless plenty of fun!

Thank you, Katheren, for organising

There are many startups chasing the last mile and food delivery. Tough space, even in New York. Two startups shut down. More here!
But that is not stopping DoorDash from entering NZ. Read more!

At ADI.Clinic we have talked with many founders over the last two years who were contemplating a delivery service. And promptly we had Gimme from Christchurch drop into ADI yesterday. This HERE is their deck.

Our angels have surfaced no suitable deals to bring to our March pitch night.

Ergo, no pitch night next Tuesday

Pitch night is normally every third Tuesday of the month. However, all investor reps are still getting together next Tuesday afternoon.
But not to worry, says our Chief Event Officer Katheren. Let's do dinner in Auckland's Ponsonby instead. Put your name down HERE, all welcome, and Katheren will advise final details.

Most active angels are “seasonal angels.”  They suffer at least one loss each season.

A shameless plug from the Chief Content Officer at Datella. You can now get dates to spread on your toast or otherwise from Supie, FreshChoice &  Commonsense Organics in Auckland. It will help this startup to see products moving off the shelves after being recently stocked. So be an Angel

Full disclosure: Chief Content Officer = CCO = CCH = Chief Cat Herder
